Touching Lives - Spring 2006
Lights for Life
The Foundation is proud to announce that we have exceeded our preliminary goal for Lights for Life, raising more than $460,000 to purchase 15 Giraffe beds. The Foundation will continue raising funds for the project through the end of 2006 which will assist with the $3.5 million renovation of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Pink Bear Invasion
On Friday, January 13, representatives from the Lakeland post office delivered the last of 250 pink teddy bears to the Lakeland Regional Cancer Center. The four Lakeland post offices adopted the “Share a Bear” concept to promote awareness of their Breast Cancer Research semi-postal stamps and to provide comfort to cancer patients undergoing treatment in their community. Customers had the opportunity to sponsor a bear for a cancer patient for $10 each. Staff and volunteers have been delighted to offer the bears to patients undergoing treatment.
Employee Giving
WOW! Employees contributed $218,563 to LRMC and LRCC during fiscal year 2004-2005. This gift was made possible by 2,800 plus employees who made individual gifts to the Foundation. This is the largest gift ever made by employees. Since 1990, employees have given $1,883,128 in gifts to the Foundation.
